Story Title: Reason
Story: AU: We Are
Summary: Jiro takes his anger out on an employee of his orphanage after Taka goes missing.
I heard a bone crack as my body was slammed against the floor of my office. Glancing up through my broken glasses I saw the angrily twisted face of a seventeen year-old boy staring down at me. His chest moved up and down at a panicked pace – he looked like he would have a heart attack at any moment.
“Where did you take her?” The boy’s voice was pure venom; it made me shiver deep inside. “Where is she?”
“Jiro. . .stop this.” I tried to get up, but a pain shot through my spine. “She’ll be happier where she is. You two had an unhealthy –“
“Shut up!” He kicked me in the rips – hard.
I closed my eyes waiting for something, anything, but nothing came. I heard a shuffling; opening one eye I saw several other employees of the orphanage entering the room and grabbing hold of Jiro. He was fighting back, as if the employees were bringing him to his death.
As two of the employees helped me off the floor, I heard one ask why Jiro had beaten me. There was just one thing I could think of, and I knew it was the truth.
“We took his reason for living away.”
