Story Title: The Reason You Suck, Speech
Summary: Sakura thinks Bo Ra should hear something
Sakura found Bo Ra sitting against the wall of a bedroom. Maybe she was hiding or maybe just avoiding the looks of the others. Sakura supposed it was all the same thing, really. Wordlessly Sakura joined her older foster-sister; sitting against the wall in an awkward silence for several moments.
Finally, Bo Ra let out a melodramatic sigh. “How did you find me?”
“Smell,” Sakura smiled sweetly. “Only you would wear perform that flowery. You smell like a Hello Kitty store. All sorts of scents; they aren’t natural.” Sakura shivered. “It gives me hives.”
“So why bother seeking me out?”
Sakura shrugged. “No one else wanted to, and I thought it was time you had a conversation.” she shook her head. “No, not a conversation; it’s something else. I thought it was time you listened to someone other than yourself.”
Bo Ra gave Sakura a sideways glare. “I’m glaring at you.”
Smiling, Sakura nodded. “I know. But, I don’t care. I just want to tell you what I think about your problem.”
“My problem?”
“There is a saying . . . having your cake and eating it too. That’s you.” Sakura paused for effect. “You don’t want Gun, but you want him to love you like he used to love you. And, you don’t really want Ryu-Jin, but you want him to want you anyway. You used to like Sato, too. You only stopped when you realized you couldn’t get what you want from him. Bo Ra, you want everyone to love you – especially men. And, when they don’t, you do stupid things.” She sighed deeply; disappointed in Bo Ra. “That’s why you were mean to Ryu-Min. That’s why you told her those awful things. You’re partly to blame for her slashing her wrists.”
Bo Ra raised an eyebrow. “You can’t force someone to kill themselves, Sakura. I’m a modern woman; I simply go after what I want.”
Sakura shook her head, disappointed. “You tell people cruel things in order to get your way. You told a mentally ill woman, a depressed woman, that she should kill herself. You practically put the razor in her palm.” she sighed gently. “And Mieko. . . you told her things. . .horrid things. All because you want male attention completely on you. I’m surprised you haven’t tried anything on Sugihara or Haru.”
“Haru has the mind of a child and Sugihara is a drunk.”
“He’s a drunk and whimsical. That makes him somewhat appealing.”
“What?”
Sakura shrugged casually, before continuing on in her thoughts. “You should apologize to everyone.”
“I apologize to no one.” Bo Ra stood and dusted the invisible dust from her red skirt. “You ought to know that by now, Sakura.”
Smiling slightly, Sakura nodded. “I know. But, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t apologize for being cruel.”
Bo Ra scoffed lightly. “What do you know about anything? You’re just a burden to everyone.”
Sakura kept her smile firmly on her face. She couldn’t see it, but she was sure Bo Ra was grinning in victory. Well, this was one victory she wasn’t going to get. “Yes, my blindness causes me to be a burden to some people. But, that’s fine with me; because I know that everyone likes me. Can you say the same?”
There was a long silence, before Bo Ra spoke. “No.”
After that, the only sound was that of footsteps walking angrily away from the room. Sakura listened to the sound. She stayed sitting, not daring to move, long after the sounds had faded away.
