Story Title: Bus Ride
Summary: Chan-wook wonders if bringing Takara with him was a good idea.
Author's Note: Takes place in the 1980s.
Chan-wook wasn’t sure which blood was his and which was Takara’s. Was that his blood on his shirt or was it mostly Takara’s? Sitting behind him, Takara’s breathing was slow and even – it was the only indication that she was still alive.
He couldn’t help but think that maybe, just maybe, bringing her along with him had been a mistake. Takara had gotten in the way, and now there was a bullet in her right arm. She shouldn’t have been there; then again, he shouldn’t have been there.
Somewhere deep inside, Chan-wook had thought it would all work out. He had thought that he could keep the cons and gambling away from Takara; he could keep fragile Takara safe from the evils of the world.
At that moment, it seemed that he had been unbelievably wrong. Chan-wook couldn’t deny it – he could no longer pretend that things were flowers and rainbows. Once the bus stopped, Chan-wook would bring Takara to Mr. Lee and have the bullet removed; then he’d send her back to Japan and Kaori.
That’s what Chan-wook thought at the time anyway.
