Story Title: Tea Time Meeting
Story: AU: WE ARE
Summary: Ji Sung and Yuri met up to discuss something important.
His tea was getting cold, but he couldn’t bring himself to ask the waitress for a refill. He didn’t like the idea of her staring at his busted lip – and he knew very well that she would stare; just as the older woman seated in front of him was staring. Though, perhaps her hardened gaze was for another reason.
“You, Na Ji Sung, were in bed with Sara.” Her voice was just as angry as her gaze. He was sure she would have hit him if she thought she could get away with it.
Ji Sung kept his eyes on his lukewarm tea. “Yes.” He nervously wiggled in his chair. “Sometimes I sleep over.”
“You sleep or you,” she paused uncomfortably. “sleep?”
Ji Sung looked up from his tea. Staring into this woman’s eyes, he could see her hatred for him; for what he might be doing to her precious Sara – his beautiful Ling’er. “We sleep. Me and that girl, we’re just friends. She’s alone at night, because no one stays with her nights. Her brothers, father, mother . . . they are never there. And, she gets scared. All those things in her head, all those chemicals in her body, it makes a person crazy. She just needs a friend to be with her. I’m her friend.”
“Sara’s getting better and –“
“There are tumors in her head, Lady.” Ji Sung tried to keep the anger out of his voice, but couldn’t quit manage it. “Cancer, tumors . . . she’s all confused by it. All she knows is there is no one there for her. So, I stay nights; because, she’s my friend. We’ve done nothing and I don’t plan on us doing anything.”
“Is she really that scared?”
“Of course. Did you think she was doing just fine, all alone . . . sixteen and thinking she might die . . . yeah, she’s scared.”
“I can’t. . .would you continue to watch over her, Ji Sung?
“Yeah,” He stood up and bowed slightly to her. “I’ll look after her. Don’t worry, we look after each other. I’ll take care of her; because, no one in her family can.”
