Story Title: Catatonic
Summary: The men in Taka's life try and wake her up from a catatonic state after Jiro is arrested and jailed for murder.
Shin Woo:
He kneels in front of her, quietly watching her. She hardly moves and she hasn’t spoken for ages. He’s used to her being quiet, but he can’t handle her being in this near catatonic state. He’s grown used to their partner – friend – ship. She changes people on paper and he changes them in the electric records. He doesn’t want to lose that. (Why didn’t Jiro go to him? Why’d he use a new guy?) He moves some hair away from her eyes.
“If you don’t get better soon, you’re out of the book club.” He smiles softly. “Wake up.”
Mason:
“Wake up.” He tells her over and over again, but she never listens. He’s used to her listening to him. He sits beside her and pats her head, just like he used to. He thinks he shouldn’t have let her go back to Japan. They all should have stayed together. (Why didn’t they stay together? Why did their family break?) He tucks some hair behind her right ear.
“Come on, snap out of it.” He smiles softly. “You’re supposed to be the realistic one. So, wake up. Come on, Sleeping Beauty.”
Eddie:
“Come on, Sleeping Beauty.” He paces back and forth, stopping only to glare at her. “You’re acting like a spoiled child.” He scoffs. “You’re meant to be stronger than this. You’ve lived through so much, and you can’t get over this? Come on . . . be strong.” (Why didn’t they stay together?) He moves toward her; kisses the top of her head.
“If you don’t snap out of this, I’ll be very angry.” He smiles softly. “Don’t let go.”
Ki Soo:
“Don’t let go. You’ve had it rough, but it’s such a wonderful thing, this thing we call life.” He takes her hands into his; she makes no response. “Don’t fall away, Ms. Masaki. Come back to your family; if not f or their sake, than for yours.” (Why are these children falling apart without Chan-wook?) He lifts her hands to his and gently kisses them.
“Never give up.” He smiles softly. “You’re too good for that. You’re a fighter.”
Jin:
“You’re a fighter.” He sits beside her, nervous and refusing to touch her. “You’ve survived so much, but you fall apart because Jiro’s gone? No, it’s more like . . . what happened to you? Why did Jiro. . .no, sorry. But, you have to get better.” (Why did this happen?) He places his hand onto hers.
“Jiro says I should take care of you, so I’ll do that. Okay?”
“Yes,” her voice is soft.
It’s a start.
