Story Title: The Task
Summary: Chan-wook calls Taka and asks her to complete a task.
Taka didn’t like talking on the phone; she wasn’t a fan of talking period. So, she usually sent emails or text messages to people, and they usually did the same toward her –until one day Chan-wook broke the unspoken rule. He called her at three in the morning, out of breath and rushed.
”Taka. . .could you do something for your old Ahjuhssi?”
Taka nodded, before remembering that Chan-wook couldn’t see her. “Yes.”
”I had to go away for a while. It’s turned bad, so I won’t be able to pay back a debt. There’s a small, blue, box in a coin locker Tōkyō Station. I’ll send you the number. You have to bring that box here to Korea. You have to give it to someone for me. Can you do that?”
“Yes.”
“Good girl.” Chan-wook’s breathing had become shaky. ”Tell Ling’er I’m sorry.”
“Ahjuhssi?”
”Taka?”
“I. . .I am happy you’re my father.”
The line was quiet for several seconds, before Chan-wook sniffed; “You’re a good girl, Taka.” Chan-wook sniffed again, before the line went dead.
Quietly, Taka closed her cell phone. She waited all of a moment before getting out of bed. Quickly she dressed and headed out for Tokyo Station. She would get Chan-wook’s box and give it to whomever he wanted; but, she would not tell her siblings about her task. After all, her father had given this task only to her.
