Story Title: Lovers, Liars, and Fools
Summary: A look at Eddie/Aoi, Jin, and Jiro.

I. To love someone is truly a great thing.
No one would describe Eddie as traditionally handsome. Tall, yes. Handsome? Maybe. But, there was darkness in his eyes that couldn’t be ignored. Eddie slept with women, but none stayed. He didn’t love them, anyway.
But, one day that changed. . .
Aoi came along.
Before anyone knew it, the two were in love with one another. So in love that Eddie and Aoi changed for the better. They lived together and it was . . . perfect.
When asked why, Eddie always said that it didn’t matter why. Aoi always said, “I love him, because we fit. It’s nice to love and be loved.”
II. Lying to others is stupid. Lying to yourself is just selfish.
No one knew when it happened, especially Jin, but it happened. He fell for Ling’er. She was meant to be his beloved little sister, but that wasn’t what she was in his eyes. Around the age of fifteen, she became a woman to him.
They were over a decade apart; he was a grown man with degrees and a bright medical future; he felt like a pedophile.
Yet. . .
He loved her.
To make things better, Jin lied and pretended he didn’t. He pretended not to be jealous of her “friend” Ji Sung. He pretended not to care when Ling’er told him she loved Ji Sung and that they kissed and hugged and held hands with on dates.
He pretended a lot toward the end.
He was a liar and he knew it. That’s what hurt the most.
III. Sometimes the clowns are the wisest in the room.
Jiro liked keeping things light and airy. He disliked fights and raised voices. So, he cracked jokes and smiled at everyone. When things got horrible, he kept laughing.
When he noticed that Eddie was in love with Aoi, Jiro joked that he would date Aoi. Eddie gave her a ‘couples’ ring a month later.
When Jiro saw the look in Jin’s eyes when Jin looked at Ling’er. . . Jiro happily told Ling’er that she should date Ji Sung more seriously. He took Jin out to ‘dance it out’.
When Mason lost his dream girl, Jiro made sure to be playful around Mason – to annoy him and make him forget, at least for a while.
When Ahjuhssi got quiet and drank too much, because of the past and the nightmares, Jiro was there. He drank with his Ahjuhssi He drank and he laughed, until they both passed out on the cold floor.
When Kaori was angry at someone or something, Jiro sent her emails. Lots of silly emails with messages like; I am looking at an elephant that has a head the size of Eddie’s. Eddie’s head is huge, isn’t it?
When Taka told him horrible things about her childhood, her voice unemotional and quiet, Jiro smiled softly. He hugged her, telling her odd and silly jokes. She never smiled, but there was always something in her eyes that let him know she was happy.
