Story Title: Good Day
Summary: Ling'er and Ji Sung spend some time together.
It was a good day to die.
The sun was shining through a thin layer of fluffy clouds and the gently waves of the ocean gave a calming effect to anyone who listened. The sand felt warm underneath them.
Ling’er had become gaunt during the last couple of months. Her body felt like nothing even though she was leaning all her weight against Ji Sung’s side.
Her breath shallow and even, Ling’er seemed to be half-way asleep; her fingers twirling into his let Ji Sung know she was awake.
She was so tired and ready to go, Ji Sung knew that but it didn’t mean he wanted it to be true. He wanted her to stay with him. Forever.
Looking out at the ocean, Ji Sung smiled. “For lunch we’ll finish off the birthday cake. I’ll help you take a bath after that, okay?”
Ling’er responded with a small moan.
Pulling her closer to him, Ji Sung began petting Ling’er hair – her hair which was more of slow growing fuzz now. “Good call on getting your favorite foods every day.”
Ling’er responded with a moan again.
“I think tonight we should have ice cream.”
Ling’er swallowed before licking her chapped lips. “I want chocolate.” Her voice was slow and for some reason she only spoke Mandarin, but since she barely spoke Ji Sung never had trouble understanding her.

Ji Sung and Ling’er ate the birthday cake in their bed before Ji Sung helped Ling’er into the tub; every night Ji Sung bathed Ling’er. Afterward Ji Sung dressed Ling’er and put her to bed. He honestly thought that that day would be the last, but. . .
“It would have been a good day to die.” Ling’er whispered to him as she began drifting off into slumber.
“Well,” Ji Sung began slowly. “there’s always tomorrow.”
Today would have been a good one; but, tomorrow might be a better day to die.
